Welcome to as we speak’s Photo of the Day! Within the Nineteen Eighties, LAR Manufacturing’s brawny LAR Grizzly unleashed magnum revolver cartridges in a semi-automatic pistol platform. This supersized 1911 fired heavy hitters just like the .45 Winchester Magnum and .44 Magnum. Initially conceived by inventor Perry Arnett, the LAR Grizzly extensively modified Browning’s Authorities Mannequin to face up to ranges of energy that may cripple normal 1911s. An overbuilt body, beefy slide, and 27 lb recoil spring allowed the Grizzly to digest potent rounds producing over 20,000 psi breech pressures. The primary 1983 LAR Grizzly Mark I fashions centered on the .45 Win Magazine – driving 230 grain bullets to a blistering 1450 fps. Conversion kits offered caliber swaps between .357 Magazine, 10mm, and finally .50 AE. Stretching over 10 inches, the ported 6.5″ barrel helped average recoil from this thunderous semi-auto magnum. Till ending manufacturing in 1999, round 15,000 LAR Grizzlies have been produced throughout the Mark I-V fashions.
